Painted their tanks background Orange

Never seen it done, imagine it wouldn't lok to great, but would be interested to try. As a first step to see how it looks would be to find some orange paper, or paint some paper orange, and hang that on the back of the tank, it might not give as nice a finish as painting the tank directly, but gives you a good idea of what it would look like, and is easily removable unlike painting the back of the tank.

The background of my 180 is a piece of 1/4 inch plywood that I painted black. I can remove it and repainted it whenever I want. Might try blue soon. Easier than redoing the glass.

I think I am going to go for it!

Personally I'd try it on an old 10 gallon tank first. Throw the exact same substrate you have in your main tank just to get a feel of the look and contrast.

I don't have the tank yet its on its way it will it is a Pentair tank with one view-able window
the tank is made of fiberglass so I was going to use pond armor. It will be in wall I figure it will look like a orange picture with fish swimming in it
