Today my fiance tried to paint the back of one of our tanks with black acrylic latex enamel and he said it wouldn't stick. Help!!! What is he doing wrong. We already have fish in the tank so spray paint isn't an option.:thumbsdow

You have to use flat black latex paint and put it on with a fine roller one layer at a time. I waited about 10 min between layers and put about 10 layers on the back of my 180g.

You want the glass really clean, wipe it down with acetone before painting.
DO NOT USE ACETONE ON ACRYLIC IT WILL PERMANETLY TURN IT HAZY/WHITE.

I had the same problem with a test paint using latex paint, but fortunately hadn't set up the real tank yet, so was able to also try spray paint and go with that -- so much better!

Since your tank is set up, maybe go with a solid color shower curtain? I've used that on a few tanks and it's worked well -- just cut to fit and duct tape.

for glass you need to have primer mixed in... i used Behr Paint and Primer Suede Black (flat/semi gloss finish) use a sponge roller and let it dry between coats... i put about 4 coats on my 125

i few mega packs of sharpies from costco might work:)

I jumped in to painting my glass corner tank. Had no idea what I was doing and painted it with flat black. Still looks good to this day... I just cleaned the glass real good... dried it off and used a brush to paint it. Did 3 coats and set-er up :)

Apply a coat of ESP (Easy Surface Prep), wait 90mins for it to dry, then paint with any flat, low sheen paint.
