Painting tank panels?

So, I want to change the panels on my tank from woodgrain, to black. What paint would be the least messy, and look the best? Has anyone ever painted the paneling on their tank?

I would probably get a good plastic spraypaint and tape everything off really well. Krylon seems to be popular for plastic

x3 on spraypaint specifically designed for plastic. All the manufacturers have a version for plastic now, Krylon Fusion was the first, and thus its the 'household name'. Any of them that are labled 'for plastics' will have the adhesion ingredients.
