i recently bought a acrylic tank and was planning on having the back ground and 2 side wall black i was going to do that by buying the foam board insulation and painting it black.. but my overflow in the tank is that normal "aquarium light blue" color and so it wont look too great with all black walls then a huge bright blue overflow box on the far side.. any ideas on how to turn the box black? cutting it out is out of the question because it has been acrylic cemented into place.. my thought has been to paint it black then use fiberglass resin over the paint to make it aquarium safe, or just painting it with some black epoxy

Sounds like you have it all under control!?

Scuff it up nice with some 400 grit then use Kylon Fusion to paint it.

I have used krylon fusion to paint all my pvc running on a closed loop in my reef tank without any problems.
