Okay I know I said I was gonna go with aggressive tank but now I am thinking of doing a Pair of cubans in my 125 Gallon. I also would like to do a Pair of Lyonsi in there too do you think that could work or No???????

Help would be great or should i go with a rare fish as a pair in my 125 gallon.

I'm not sure you can do the cubans AND the lyonsi, but I may be wrong... don't know much about cubans.

Lyonsi, btw, are considered fairly rare, and in the wild, are also an endangered species. Just fyi.

Pick one or the other bud. Might sound boring on paper, but a nice adult pair of either species is more than enough IMO as far as the enjoyment you'll get out of watching them.

Oh I know the enjoyment i would get they are both great looking fish but i didnt know if i could keep them both in a 125 together or not i know the lyonsi are rare and they are both really rare in my area no LFS cares them and can not get any of them either so either way i would be good. My buddie and I are probly the only ones in albany area that have a Lyonsi cichlid. IYO what would be better pair tho

From what I have read lyonsi can be a little difficult to spawn. Not to say there really hard, just difficult. I have read countless posts on the 4 forums I am active on with lyonsi owners saying "hooorayyhh they spawned" and reading only a day or two later the parents ate the eggs or the wrigglers. So if you are trying to get some large spawns pretty easily then the lyonsi might not be the better of the two to achieve this. I personally have never owned cubans, but have read of several trouble free spawns. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Cuabns won't tolerate a pair of lyonsi. Mine are half grown and would shredd any cichlid I try to put in their 125 gallon home. Either pair will fill the tank out once they grow.
