I bought a pair of Cichla Orinos not too long ago. This was a guaranteed female and male. When I first got them, they got along fine. Now they are starting to fight alot. They are both 12+ and both in their own tank. The smaller one that I think is a female shows a lot of open mouths and swims back and fourth a lot. One is a bit slimmer body wise and doesn't do much. Is this NORMAL?

Thanks

Dom

might be breeding behavior you the guy who got them f1's from snook? well i think so, those are some nice orinos, how big is the tank? and can i see some pics. thanks.

My larger pbass (14") bites the other two (12") pbass and chases them sometimes but does no damage. All my pbass are male (have the hump on their head) and I think that the larger is just showing his dominance (alpha fish).

Yes, I bought them from Snook21, my tank is only 120 gallon long, I will try to get pics

Thanks for the info. I appreciate the reply.

When my female mono decided she was ready to mate, she would beat the crap out of my male, who was at least an inch longer than her. She would chase him all over the tank until she finally relaxed and got down to business. I wouldn't worry about the behavior too much.
