Hello Everyone, I been keeping fish for years. I currently have a pair , I believe from what I have read of Ornate bichirs. I bought them when they
were about 2.5 inches. This was in 1991. I keep them in a 200 gal tank 6 months out of the year. Each year they both go in the 1000 gal outside pond for the warmer months. This past summer ( Aug.) I observed them continuously swiming side by side together. This went on I believe for a week or so. I have my thoughts. Does anyone have suggestions for me ? Currently I have them both in a 85 gal . I'll put them out in the pond again in April when it warms up. I thought this would be the best site to get info.

No I don't have pics at the moment . I will try to post soon. The Bichirs are about 15- 17 inches. One is alot more rounded. I believe this is the female ?
The anal fins are very different in the both. One is more round while the smaller one is more pointed. I will try for pics soon . Thanks again
 
Hello, I tried posting a reply earlier. I may have done something wrong.
I do not have pictures at the moment, but will try soon. The larger one approx 17 inches I think the female, has more of a rounded anal fin. The smaller one approx 15 inches, has more of a pointed anal fin.
They eat anything I have given them over the years, once by mistake ate a few baby red ear turtles. I thought the turtles would be OK. I was wrong.
