today we pickup our pair of small dot cichlids hopefuly they will be a breeding pair. Are there any people out there breeding them and are they tricky to breed.

I know u can order them from aquascapeonline.com but they have insane shipping costs. They wanted 80 dollars to ship a 4" fish.
We got them from a local importer here in Alberta but I believe they are the last pair he had. He has shipped to the U.S. but had horrible luck with the authorities and the fish died and cot him money. I was looking at ours tonight they are real sharp looking fish. I hope we will be able to raise some as I have never seen them around hear.
I started with 5 about 3.5 inches long that i ordered from rapps. One of the males got to 5 inches and murdered all but one of the other ones. The other one is now only able to float at the top. They absolutely hate their own kind female or not. This species was worse then my haitians. Best of luck and have a divider ready. Oh and if anyone wants to buy that male in central Illinois Im trying to get rid of him. I wanted a breeding pair so bad maybe ill try again some other time.
I would love for mine to breed, I think I'm gonna have to move them to their own tank. All the courtship behavior's there they just won't take it any further.
Well we are out of business with them till we get another female our young male rostratus killed her. I know it was'nt the male because he was bullied and scared of the rostratus too. As for breeding them you will need a sand bottom with lots hiding places. It sounds like they kay their eggs in lines and the eggs are tubular shaped and they lay a pile of them good luck.
