i might be getting a 65 gallon reptarium from LLLReptile for easter. i was wondering if i could keep and breed a pair of tokays in this size tank.

any tips or hints for breeding? what kind of decor would i need?

thanks in advance

i dont really know if it would be worth trying to breed some tokays.. while they look cool they are very mean.. they are always trying to bite. while they are very nice looking, there temper is less than desireable..

what are the dimensions of the reptarium?

as far as breeding, i would set the tank up with alot of plants. make it very dense.. i also belive that they are nochturnal? the more dense the vegitation the greater the chance of them breeding. if you can get them to feel at home, and not stressed i dont see why they wouldnt breed.. the only thing that may give you trouble is finding a pair..

i don't think i really want to go with them after all. only 2 eggs per clutch, and each could probably only be sold for $10 to a store. thanks anyways though.

any other suggestions for a reptarium with the dimensions 28.5x16 (i think)x30?

True, but some people are willing to pay more for captive bred animals that are disease free.

Yup....

I use to sell my cb tokays for $35-50 plus shipping. Even now you can find CB tokays on kingsnake.com for about the same price.

you could always go with a chameleon of some sort.. veiled or panther. they are very nice looking and would make a nice display reptile..

as long as they are legal in your area

Try crested gecko's instead, there are some color variants out there to play around with and they're in fairly high demand - as well as being fun to watch and hand tame =)

nothing is illegal in ontario lol. but panthers and veilds are a bit out of my price range:irked: i just get $30 per month for allowance, plus random money for babysitting and stuff. thanks for the suggestion though, as i might find a cheap chameleon at the show thats coming up. any 'budget'(:D) suggestions guys?

the thing that makes it hard about finding a reptile that will be good for a reptarium is the fact that they are all screen.. lets out alot of humidity..

geckos would be good. Day geckos, cresteds, ect

im trying to think of more stuff to put in there but i have hit a mental block:screwy: haha..
