My Vietnam Tiger (male) and friends Koky Red Dragon (female) are paired up. Left them together for 2 days with a divider. Removed the divider today and the male nipped and flared for a while. I turned off the lights and he calmed down. They are digging around a rock i put on the opposite side of the tank of the filter. Just waitin for eggs now (:

Things got a little to sketchy so i put the divider back in. My male got his mouth tore up pretty good and a few scales missing from the front of his head. The bigger female has a perfect bite print on her forehead haha

Is there any good tricks to reduce aggression? I dont want both fish to be thrashed by the end of this haha my male already has a shredded mouth. My plan is to just keep them divided another few days or maybe till this weekend. Then i will let them play again haha

I know breeding through a divider is a possibility. If you have egg crate or cut holes in you plexy glass divider and slide a flat rock or tile under neath where eggs can be laid and fertilized with out any aggression.
