So I just got a second clownfish. I got the first one about a week and a half earlier. How long will it take for me to determine they have obtained the pecking order in which the dominant will become female or until I can tell they are not going to pair up at all? They are both about 1 inch in length and the newer fish is a hair bigger than the other and is definitely showing dominance. Not to the point where it is terrorizing the other clown but just a nudge now and then. This will be day two of them being in the tank together.

So My clowns are getting along great now. It is very hard to tell which will become the female and which will stay the male. They are of equal size but neither seem to be more dominant than the other. They just swim together and hang out. They have chosen a bed finally. They used to hover at one end of the tank at night. One at the top and one at the bottom. They picked a nice little cove area in the front of the tank around some rock at the bottom of the tank. Unfortunately I do not have an anemone for them to host. Neither do I think I can have an anemone yet. My tank is very healthy but I would not consider it mature enough to have an anemone, nor do I have the proper lighting.

P.S. It seems I have one True Percula and one Ocellaris.
