Well tried to pair up my maroon clown with a mate and that did not work out as good. As soon as i put the new maroon, my other maroon was all over him/her. Had to separate them. Guess that clown will fly solo

You could put the new mate in a net breeder or a live-bearer nursery in tank and see how they act toward each other through the blockage and wait a week or so then add the mate at night and rearrange the decor so it will be new to the established Maroon in the morning so it will be new territory for both and they should be good just don't get 1 that is the same size as your current Maroon.

another little trick is to divide the tank with a clear sheet of acrylic, glass or the cheap plastic tank divider, let them get established for a week or so and then remove the divider. Them both having there own territory helps equal the playing field a bit. In my past experience they will get curious and eventually could become a pair on there own. Of course the larger the tank the better for this experiment, but again, worth a shot.

Thanks i will try the divider. Just want to breed them. To me they are the nicest looking of the clowns.

they do have a very unique attitude lol. In more cases then not, a pair is hard to get. If it doesnt work then your likely going to need to try two different secimens and see if those two would have a different attitude towards eachother. good luck
