I have 7 angelfish ranging from 1.5 to 2.5" The largest two seem to be hanging around together sometimes. I'm curious if anyone knows at what size do angels pair up and maybe some patern behaviour that would help me spot it. Still no papilae showing, but i'm pretty sure one of them is a male since it's the dominant one and already established a territory and chasing others away except that other large one.

It is more of an age thing than size before they mature and pair off. Usually about 8 months to a year old when that happens. The males usually grows bigger and have a small bump on the head where as the female looks more like the same as when they were when younger. The males are usually fighting each other for territory. Good Luck.
