I just got a 12" Golden Blue Base Crossback arowana frm a farm.. after putting him in the tank, he seems 'pale'.. he is swimming very well though and eating too..

Is this normal? A friend told me that an arowana that is from a farm instead of those bought frm LFS which is already tanned in the display tank needs abt a month or so for the colour to bloom...

Advice pls.. :(

This is when I got her a week ago.. pale.. no shine.. only can see the blue and red tail..

This is her now after I treated the water to blackwater a day ago.. can see more shine and looks more 'gold' now..

Should I consider tanning her? I asked a LFS and was adviced that Golden Crossback looks good with a warm white light tanning..

I know it is a common practise to use UV lights to tan Arowanas. I'm not sure of the adverse effects though. It's obvious that the fish is exposed to UV rays in the wild but I'm unsure if tanning a fish like that would have the same outcome as say, a human living under sunbed lights all day.
