I've recently set up a 10 Gallon nano reef for fun. I've just recently started getting some frags. My most recent was a brilliant green Ricordea yuma. However, no matter where I place it, it retains the same dull coloration. A few other corals I have aren't really displaying great coloration either and I can't figure out why.
My Nitrate, Nitrite, and Ammonia are all at 0. Specific Gravity stays a 1.025, KH = 12, Calcium = 400, and PH around 8.0 I have a Compact Flourescent 96 Watt 50/50 quad running for about 6 hours a day. There's a Koralia Nano providing circulation, an Aquaclear 20 with some rubble and a filter pad, some cheato, and around 15 lbs of live rock for filtration. I do a 40% water change weekly. The only inhabitants are a handful of Blue Legged Hermits, Astrea Snails, a Halloween Crab, and a Fire Shrimp.
All I dose is Aquavitro Calcification, and Seachem Reef Builder.
I may be able to provide pictures later. Does anyone have any idea what most commonly causes a lack of coloration in corals like this? Should I be dosing something some Amino Acids, or Phytoplankton? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
