Pale Jewel Chichlids

I just picked up this pair from the LFS, and I am curious about whether or not they are likely to develop the deeper red coloring, or if they happen to simply be a species that tends towards being lighter in coloration. They come from a light substrate and my tank is dark, so I was hoping that they would perhaps develop a bit more coloration. Is this likely?

best thing to do to see just how red they can get, would be to make sure the water is soft, and gradually raise the water temp to about 78 or 80 degrees, at that point hey should be as red as they can with out being breeding
