Palmas?

I have what was sold to me as a palmas bichir idk what he is. He looks different compared to my senegal, but he doesnt look like any of the palmas variants Ive seen either(no marbled splotches). He's kind of slow growing and he's growing longer rather than thicker....idk I'll put up pics a little later.

Could be a nigerian lap, one of the local fish stores around me passed them off as "palmas" before.

I dont think so mine is a upper jaw species and a lap is a lower jaw species. It looks just like this one and its labeled as a retropinnis, so I guess thats what it is.

looks like a mokelembe to me, but im no pro at bichir ID, i do know that those are often labeled as retros

Yep guess it is a retropinnis, does it have an eye like that? They have a super neat eye that is distinctive to the retropinnis species. Would be real easy with the help of one picture. lol
