i have a 10 gallon planted tank currently, that im considering trying to turn into a paludarium.

the plan is to take this corner cave i have:
http://s3.amazonaws.com/tc-photos/11442/product/standard/504502.jpg

and flip it upside down and silicon it to the corner of my tank. which will create a nice overhand over that corner of the cave.

my question is what is the best way to silicon it to the corner of the tank. the tank is full now, do i just have to drop the water level enough so that i can attach it. or should i empty it completely because of moisture.

also the corner edges arent perfectly smooth. i did a test and there appears so be 7-8 points that would touch the glass. how much silicon would i need to securely fasten this to the side of my tank.

thanks in advance for advice.

will post pictures after i start

I'd use silicone personally to attach it. Buy some GE 1. A tube will be plenty.

I'd also drain the tank and move whatever is near there to attach it. If there is soil in the tank then just move the soil around it if it's going on the bottom of the tank.

ok i have the piece attached. its got some support from a rock below while it dries. hopefully by tomorrow i can remove the rock and it will be held there well.

im using a HOB filter, and the intake will be right next to the attachement and the flow should drain right into it. i might pile a bunch of rocks on it to disturf the flow so i can have a land area that doesnt get disturbed much.

how long does the silicone need to dry before i can add water?

I'd wait 3 full days. Then after that just don't be banging around on it or anything for up to a week. Then all is good by then.
