Greets all,

For me it is fun to show you my new space to practice my hobby in, this space is in the shed that stands near to my house.

____________________________________

Some technical details:

____________________________________

Size:

450cm deep x 300cm wide x 280-250cm high.

Odd construction:

There is a hanging construction made by my design to keep storage boxes in, this means i can place all my stuff for the hobby here and no mess is in the house.

Heating and cooling

The room is heated and cooled by a FUJI inverter, this is an airco system which:

- Cleans the air
- Removes moist from the air
- Can heat
- Can cool

Soon the airco company will come over and we will decide which model will be used for this space, i already have an model in my living room installed. The white box you see is an space where the outside unit from the airco will be placed in.

Most of the heating will be done by lamps, aquarium heaters and drip system. But winters here in The Netherlands can sometimes have temperatures below zero. For this the airco system is a great backup system.

Drainage and water supply

There is a water line and sewer connection made available.

Power

There is an separate power connection with fuzzes, if the airco draws too much power all other electra will still work.

Floor

The floor is made of concrete, which was already there.

Isolation

The entire room is isolated, which made me lose 10cm from every side.

Goal

____________________________________

Since i started keeping poison arrow frogs i was quickly infected by the frog virus, this meant that i wanted to catch em all! But before it got out of hand i decided to focus on a few species.

Species focused on

Dendrobates Tinctorius:

- Azureus
- Pic Matecho
- Brazil

Dendrobates Pumilio:

- Almirante
- Bastimentos

Phyllobates Terribilis:

- Orange form

Dendrobates Imitator:

- Banded form

My goal was to have an active breeding program and be able to breed enough frogs to keep for myself a stable steady bloodline that would last me for 20-30 years. This without the need of special wild imports, but with some new blood purchased every few years from fellow hobbyists.

Chytrid

Most of you might not know that about 50% of all the frogs in the world are endangered by Chytrid (Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis, this is an fungus which attacks the skin of the frog which it uses to breath through. More information here:

http://www.amphibianark.org/chytrid.htm

Due to this serious threat we as frog keepers are made aware that imports will one day belong to the past and most of our beloved frogs will be extinct. Having a focus on a few species is not something that lives in the community and most keepers just have 1 couple of a few. Instead going for 1 couple i decided to mainly focus on a few species and have atleast 2-3 couples.

Goal of this room

The goal of this room is to offer me enough space to offer the couples a large environment to breed in and to enjoy them in.

Currently i have been keeping these couples in smaller tanks in my basement, like most basements its not accommodated to have 3 Terrariums above one another. The new space is a bit wider and deeper, but also gives me more than 100cm height which offers me room enough for 3 tanks above each other.

Betta's

Little more than a year back i started surfing the internet, i was raising about 80-120 tadpoles in each their different cup. Water changes drove me crazy and i was looking for effective ways to change water, soon i stumbled upon a drip system and not short after i met show quality Betta's. After a few months still coming back to various websites and this Bettas4all.nl forums, i decided to start of myself.

In this room there will be place for a drip wall that can contain 40 up to 80 betta tanks, im currently thinking about tank sizes of 20cm wide, 30cm deep, 30cm high. This tank size however will limit the amount of 40.

For betta tanks pretty big considering asian breeders use whiskeybottles sometimes.

End conclusion

So you think, neat... this is it.

I can tell you, and the drawing showed otherwise: This is not it.

There is room to expand a tiny bit further.

The plan is to start the drip system at 100cm height and this offers room under it. With a group of people were thinking of an construction to be able to raise the entire drip system + froglet tanks so an aquarium can be placed under it. There will be no room half way the rack to ensure reinforcements.. And this is the biggest brainkiller. If you have suggestions, please name them. Drip system : 30cm deep. Aquarium 70 cm deep. It caused me loads of brainfart moments.

To be exactly room for 220cm wide x 70cm deep x 55cm high aquarium tank. With 40 cm above it incase of a jumping fish.

This tank will be used for Channa's, but im slowly progressing towards Arowana asian tank since many keepers keep ensuring me 220cm is no issue as long as its biological filtered.

I am also not satisfied with the showtank because it takes up too much space, maybe one day i will grab the grinder and remove it from the rack its currently welded on so i can use the 350cm free floor space for a Arowana tank. And place the showtank remains on top.

But who knows what the future brings. The next coming months i will be busy with having the racks custom build, receiving the custom build tanks and making it all work.

Very nice setup. I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Ive kept numerous herps.Right now all i have is a ball python.I have always been interested in arrow frogs.I has actually been awhile since i have thought about it.I have a 55 gal tank and have been wondering what to do with it.I just cant junk it.And I dont trust it for a fish tank so Terrarium would be the best possible solution.Maybesplit it in half I dont know yet i am putting together some thought fist.I do like the fauna that these tanks house. And like ive said befor i always wanted arrow frogs.I am in New Jersey and there isnt much for sale in the way of these beauties.any info will be appreciated,On oll phases of the project From top to bottom.thanks
