Panel separation?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It's a thin line in the middle of where the 2 panes of glass meet. I filled it up once and it held water but I want to be sure it will hold for the long run

If it was a new aquarium I would try to exchange. If its a used aquarium, I think you are pretty safe. I have a similar tank(in my garage hasn't failed for several years) but I can't recommend wholeheartedly not worrying about it, any imperfection can cause a failure. Be very sure you tank is completely level, if you chose to fill it up. Maybe set it up in a garage for a few weeks, see what happens to the seam.

I planned on setting it up in my basement for a month and see if the seam gets larger or stays the same. I don't feel comfortable setting it up in my living room until someone shows me proof it will be fine

if it was new I'd bring it back but I bought it off craigslist without looking up
any information about buying a used aquarium.

hello; Setting it up in the basement for a time is likely the only way to get some confidence about the soundness of the tank. I also agree with try to have the tank as level as you can get it.

I'm pretty confident it will hold but not confident enough to set it up over my shag rug. I think I'm just going to sell it cheap and get something that won't have me thinking about it all the time
