Hi if anyone can shed any light on breeding the Pangasius Catfish, otherwise known as the "Irridescent Shark", I would be very appreciative. So far all I have read is that they are bred in ponds in Thailand, but if anyone has any other more extensive info please let me know! Thank you.

Reason why they're bred in ponds, is because these guys get HUGE. About 4ft, I believe. And they're also a shoaling fish. A normal tank won't be big enough for a group of them unless you turn a room inside your house into an aquarium.

I agree. Oh yes, I definitely agree.

Ok, cool I read about the pond breeding and all that and I intend to raise them to 3 and four foot. I am pretty sure I have a male and female, I have gone over the distinctions. Its just that there isn't much info about what temp they breed at, water conditions, even if they are live or egg or what....????

Massive tank size would be required - like they said, a room would be best. Shoot for a pH of 6.8-7.0 Lots of current (they are a river fish). I would ventrue a guess that you would need a larger group of them to induce breeding behaviors. They are egg laying fish which will spawn May- Sept.
