Sorry...... don't get too excited......... I don't have em yet....... My question anyone seen an actual juvi specimin?.......

i've kept one before and see them all the time. they are one of the most common fish in the Thai LFS, and are readily available in shoals. they are difficult to id when they are too young, cuz there are about half a dozen species that look very similar out here.

mine died after a few months. it had some sort of tumor when i bought it, i thought maybe it wouldnt be fatal, but perhaps it was. i had some photos, but they are stuck on my PC. i'll have a look though.

i agree with contender....the pangasius family look very similar ro each other

i was just checking out the cats yestrday, and there are small characteristics that set them apart. some are they obvious like a high dorsal would maybe a irridesent shark or paroon short body and some are bulkier in the body , but the gigas you notice the eyes below the center line, and as they develope, it really becomes a noticable characteristic of the gigas.

seen them once in my lfs last year, didnt do too well think they last the entire batch :)

I see them CONSTANTLY at my lfs for 6.99 labled as blue whales or albino whales for the white ones. I had one ntill my crabs fatally wounded it.. :(

I think the LFS carry the Pangasius pangasius, and not the gigas. They appear similar....It's hard for me to tell...
