How big a tank should you really have to own a full grown paroon shark?

I mean people on sites keep specifying that they can grow to HUGE sizes as in 10ft/3 m and 646lbs/293kg, but honestley who has ever seen or heard of a documented account of a P.sanitwongsei that large or even close?

The current world record is a fish of 90lbs 6 oz/41kg, and the longest specimen on foto i've ever seen whas about 5ft long and these are all wild specimens.This is still big but not as huge as above mentioned.

So really how big a tank do you really need for these guys?

You want a pool. Expect similar to rtc but swimming all the time, and im told very skitty, i think that most either choke on tankmates or smash themselfs to death on the tank not really a good fish to keep from what i hear.

Not really a good aquarium fish. Those claims of the 6-10ft size came long before they started taking records and the wild population has been severely depleted due to overfishing so it's unlikely we'll ever see a giant like that again.

same issue for the RTC debate of its size in captive care in my opinion, I know some MFKers have some nice sized ones (sharks) but I don't know if its the age- related size or if its the environment related size with those guys.

I saw in one LFS near my area keeping paroon shark about 4 to 5 feets. I cann't take the picture because is in a pond and it swim very fast. I have 2 about 3 feets and 2 about 2 to 2.5 feets. I keep in 8 * 4 * 3 fibre tank. I take some pictures when I am free.

go google or you tube it bro, you can easily find a pic of them over a meter. Unless you are looking at a very very huge tank, of at least 2.5m in width, i and i believe, a lot of people here, will suggest that you don't.

if you get the 10 ft information from from Wikipedia then its most likely wrong! Pangasius sanitwongseiis in the same family with Pangasius gigas! and the P.gigas can reach the weight of to 600 lbs but the paroon shark is most likely not!
