Is it normal for a Panther Chameleon to become more aggressive during a shed. My Panther is about 6 months old, and I've had him for 2 months. This is the 3rd shed I've seen. I was cleaning out his cage, and feeding him, and I noticed that he started puffing up and opening his mouth. When I got near him, he snapped at me. Normally he tolerates me handling him pretty well. Is this normal behavior? Thanks.

I know a lot of reptiles get grumpy when they are shedding. Another thing might be is it is getting to be an adult. A friend of mine used to breed chameleons, and some of them used to get nasty when they matured. Mostly the males.

herps tend to be more vulnerable when shedding, so i imagine chameleons can get quite agressive too

It's been more than a week since his shed, and he's still aggressive when I get near him. I guess maybe he's just maturing, and that's how it's going to be.

wow i want one after those pics!!! thats sweet.. what do they eat crickets and moths or sumthin?? how big they get? and are they boring or active animals... looks rather fun to walk around with him clingin to u!

They really don't like being handled. Stress can kill a chameleon very fast.

yea, they arent a great handling pet. they can be quite active at times. id call them interesting more than anything
