need info and pix. ordering from tfd soon, and i might get one. I am definately getting a royal clown!

hello? anyone? Miles? ok I'll see what joes says, and get the rest of the info 1st hand

I got one recently, I like it alot. It mainly hides but sometimes cruises round the tank.

It's more nocturnal, stops hiding when the lights go out.

Despite it's mouth shape it appears to be a bottom feeder. Ignores pellets and mealworms that are floating, but cruises around the bottom of the tank diagonally - gobbling things.

It's semi-aggressive. It doesn't start fights, but doesn't take any crap. It bit and chases both my oscar and friedrichsthali when they flared their gills at it.

It's an interesting fish, I've only had a CK before and i prefer the afer.

BTW the photos I've seen of this fish are brown, but mine is jet black with strange eyes.

yeah, the patern seems interesting yet drab. I have 2 carapos, and the problem of electric knifefish, is that they usually can not be kept with any other electric fish. would this be one of those. Are you saying that they'll actually clean the tank, like a scavenger, somewhat? can I see pics of yours?

mud, there's a few shots free on a roll I was shooting, I'll try and get some pics of the knife and post them next week.

I only have 1 knife so I'm not sure about the electricity conflict.

I would not say it's a scavenger as such cleaning scraps, it just prefers to eat from the bottom, as in bits of mussel and mealworms etc.

I reaserched synonyms on the scientific name. It is also know as N. afer, the same genus as clown knives. It's not electric. Fish base said it was pretty harmless for a larger knife. I will also get a royal and regular(or albino) clown knife
