I have previously kept Bleheri and Gaucha in aquariums with other fish sucessfully, I am now looking for a snakehead to include in my larger predator tank that I am in the process of setting up (I already own a pair of Green Terrors that I plan to transfer to this tank). It is a 60"x20"x26" tank, im thinking Parachana Obscura for a number of reasons.
  • Its African and so Tropical temps are fine.
  • Medium size
  • Others on here report mild temprement and co-existance with other fish in similar setups to what I have planned
Can anyone advise what the largest fish they have experianced being eaten by an Obscura is, my only fear is that at adult size my female Green Terror may be at risk?

I would also like to keep an African Pike Characin alongside the snakehead, I have seen videos of Barracuda and ATF hosed in the same tank so expect it should be feesible but has anyone on here done this, as I would be keen to hear your thoughts?

I wondered if anyone on here with experiance of Parachana Obscura could share any possitives/negatives of this fish and the setup I am planing, no offence to others but im not looking for feedback from people without first hand experiance im sure you can appreciate there are a lot of people on the internet who have some/little knowlege of fishkeeping yet feel themselves experts on all matters.

Cheers

Hi.
i once owned a large parachana obscura which was with other fish such as tiger shovel nose which was the same size in length and another large fish which I can't think of the name anyway the out come wasn't good, he killed both. So just becarfull and keep an eye on them if you put them all togeather but I wouldn't trust any snakehead after that.
my tank had some big bits of bog wood in for him to hide, il try and get some photos of him and the tank, he was big and very nice, loved his food, loved to hide and would always pop out when I was near the tank.
