Was wondering if someone could ID this fish. A Parachromis of some type but not sure which one. Not my fish, someone is giving it away. Thanks.

Hard to tell , between multifasciatus (formerly loisellii), and friedrichsthalii, or "maybe even" a male motaguense (although I doubt it), they are all so similar.
I'd need a much clearer, more detailed shot (I edited to get the one above.
P multifasciatus is supposed to differ from the other Parachromis by showing 9-10 irregular bands
Below a male motaguense

In the juvie La Ceiba below those bands are easy to see, but they become obscured as adults, except when stressed, or spawning.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I will be picking this fish up tomorrow and will try to post some clearer pics.

Well I picked him up the other day and he's settling in. Need to fatten him up a bit. The guy told me he bought him at the LFS as a Red Tiger Mota.

He's doing well in a 150 gallon with some balas and a black belt. Would like to maybe eventually find him a female but not now with the black belt in there.
