Well I have a Jaguar cichlid ryt now in a 55 gallon just for a while. And well after I plan on getting a way bigger tank like about 300 gallons atleast. If u guys are wondering how big he is hes only 3 inches and still growing.Well If i go to my LFS later in the week and get the tank if they have it in stock now.And after its all cycled and stuff can i add a juvenile Buttikoferi Tilapia? And if so what other fishes would be ok with them. Please list all of the fishes that are compatible with them both. Thanks:)

Butti's and Jags ar going to be pretty much hit and miss as they mature. I have seen successful Butti, RD/Midas, Jag, and Mota tanks. I would say FH or Trimac but they might fight like crazy. A Festae might work out well. Of course this is in the 300 gallon. There are some more possibilties but you just have to find bigger cichlids that can handle themselves ok. Even some smaller C/A's may work. Just try different combos and get what you like.

oh ok.Do u think a convict is too small? And would they work with a pair of convicts? If they have babies could we used the frys as food?I was just wondering about that as a partial food source instead of going back and forth in the LFS for feeders. And of coarse ill have some different varieties of food for all of them. And yeah i would have to agree with the trimac or FH cuz i had them once and man they gone ballistic on the others. Its like the aggro king of the tank.lol.Well the other fish i was thinking of was a dovii but i dropped that opinion because they get quite big.As for only males reaching about 24+ and females about 16 inches.

Cons will work until the Jag grows big enough to veiw them as food. Con feeders or a great idea as pet stores carry disease and such. Dovii will not be a good idea unless it's the only one in the tank. You think FH are crazy look at a damn male dovii then you you'll know. A full grown dovii is just a massive powerful fish. I say do a dovii pair and drop the Jag or try a Jag pair and a Red Tiger Mota pair. Just make sure the tank is at least 8 feet long.

i would go for a pair of red terrors and a pair of jags, have 2 seporate cave on each side of the tank and somethink to block the line of sight as it will get heated with 2 pair:)
i thought motas and jags hated each other?

i think the festaes and jags will be in for a battle royal even in a tank that size?
it depends on what you want... you can try getting a group of juvenile cichlids, 1 from a species that you like and try and grow them out to adulthood. putting pairs and stuff in a mix with other fish is kind of asking for trouble IMO.

Yes adding two pairs is trouble but is also quite possible. Just add a divider in the tank to setup to spots of breeding so one pair doesn't decide to lay right in the middle of the tank as this is the worst spot. Motas and Jags might not work or they might you will never know. They are both Parachromis and have similar markings there for they might offer a threat to either or. It could work out though in a tank thats 300g's

It's too bad motas and jags dont usually work out together, they are awesome fish! I really like the idea of jags and festae, so that's my first choice.
