I bred my Parachromis sp. "La Ceiba" and now have a bunch of fry

Questions

How long do I leave them in the tank with the parents?

Do I need to feed the fry anything special or are they like convicts and demsey's and eat the parents slime?

I did not know they bred already and there is still a few "other" fish in the tank should I remove them or leave it alone for now?

You can leave the fry in the tank for at least a month. However each day increases the chance of one of the parents freaking out and eating them. Of course that can happen if you pull the fry too, so be prepared.

The fry should be fed some baby brine, either hatched or decapsulated. They will graze on mom and dad but should still be fed.

As for the other fish, you are rolling the dice on it either way. With them the parents have something to focus on besides each other, but then those fish are at risk of being pulverized.

Congratulations on the spawn!

Yeah that is why the Other fish are in the tank to keep the parents from killing each other, never thought I would be using a red devil as a dither fish :)

I will give it a month and try and remove most of the fry

Thanks for the info, keep the info flowing

Bro, very nice yellow jacket u have, I been looking for it for a long period of time, but unluckily my land(Singapore) no one is selling it, so sad....

Congrats Pop! :D. Fish look great. Some parents are great about not eating the fry but then others feast within a few weeks. If you want to grow them out I would isolate sooner than later. Good luck!

My male killed female not long after the fry were gone. It's best if you separate them he will not stop trying to get her to breed and will kill her in the process.
