Just wondering how many different types there are because i seen a fish today at a LFS and thought it looked like a dovii although it seemed much more compressed although im probably wrong as ive never seen a dovii except on the internet, just wondering if there are any fish that look like this?

These are Jaguar's. Look similar to Dovii's but the pattern on jags is like the Jaguar(Cat). The Dovii's has a broken strip going horizontal on/near thier lateral line. Dovii's are usually more aggressive and grow larger than Jags.

Nah its definately not a jag ive kept them before, the colour is grey and looks as thought it has got any prominent teeth although i can check next time im there i asked what it was but nobody seemed to know i was just told it was aggressive lol. the colour is similar to that of the fish in ur avatar bigger mouth though

There are 5 Parachromis sp dovii, managuese, motaguense, friedrichstahli and losellei. I think the most compressed is the losellei. If you google all of them you may get a better idea of what your looking at in LFS

yeah im pretty sure its a loisellei just its colours arent as golden it looks just like it thought, now i think its one of them what are they like compared to jags or red devils?

Ive only had 1 loisellei that was a male. He wasnt as aggressive as the managuese that ive had nor the devils but temperments vary alot.
Mine grew to about 10"-11" in 3 years so I dont think they get as big as the managuese and devil-but ive only had one.

I googled parachromis and I recognised the Jags, the rest I thought were different kinds on para's or hatever but I just went with Jag. My avatar is a mature male Brichardi. They grow 4".

oh ok well this fish has similar colours different body shape im pretty sure its a loisellei. but i'll try get a picture maybe next week
