Anyone who has kept CA cichlids can't help but be impressed by their incredibly co-operative parental care instincts. From taking on bold, "steer clear" colors and patterns, to well defined positioning and signaling, it is a fascinating sight to behold. This pair, from the time they first spawned through to the present , has consistently displayed everything a CA pair can in the defense of their progeny. So here is that classic scene that has, and still continues to impress and amaze me after 45 years of cichlid keeping.

They look like very good parents.I am always amazed at seeing cichlids pairs defend.I first started keeping cichlids after I saw a pair of texas/cyano in a LFS, they really caught me

Thanks everyone. I appreciate your comments.

Beautifull couple! Great video!:OMG:

Thank you. I agree they've been a great pairing.

What size tank are they in? Any tank mates?

The tank is a 165G (5'6"x2'x2'). There are lots of tank mates - it's pretty overcrowded. Amazingly, little damage (maybe the odd scale missing or split fin) occurs to any of the tank inhabitants.

3 P. argentea
4 P. regani
6 A. robertsoni 'Rio Jutiapa'
2 P. bulleri
2. T. meeki
10 assorted juvenile 'survivors' ( 4 different species)
I'm planning on moving 5 or 6 of the larger fish out ('argentea', regani', 'bulleri')when (and if) I find other tank space for them.
