So I have found a free tank, I know it is 131cm long, 41cm wide, and 122cm tall including the stand, if I'm going on the safe side i'll assume it weighs 500kg (again I don't actaully know) I am worried my floor will cave in when I fill it up. is this a genuine concern or just paronoia? Thanks

The stand is pretty hollow with only two '[' shaped walls and some doors. I don't know how much that would weigh but it also has a lid.432071209_780585657339935_4843072720105359000_n.jpg437226713_741475064812666_4710712331184846903_n.jpg

Well, it seems you're on the ground floor, judging by the grass outside, lol, so, unless I'm missing something your tank ain't going through the floor.

And your stand, although it looks a little aged, has actually been designed to hold an aquarium, so unless it's developed some obvious major flaw, ie, a vertical corner support has split for example, then i'd say it's fine.

Give your stand a good check, and leak test the tank too. If all's well you're good to go.

it isnt my picture is is the image from the add, i am on the ground floor tho. My floor is a little hollow, i know this because it got wet and moldy

Ah, I see, thanks for clearing that up.

I think your only option regarding your untrustworthy potentially rotten floor is to get someone in to look at it and take remedial action.

It would be foolish for any member to take a punt and say one way or the other whether you're ok or not.

I wish you luck.

Using mfk tank calculator that tank is 174 us gallons
A us gallon weights 8.34 pounds
8.34 lbs x 174 gallons= 1451 lbs
Add a few hundred for glass tank + stand, decors.
I'd say 1600 - 2000 pounds.

We had water under our floors a few years ago so it was recently fixed, i suspect it will be fine but i'm just anxious lol

Figure out tank dimensions then you can determine tank size and weight
Based on the picture it looks 10-20cm tall than it wide so i put in 60 to be safe and it said 322 litres, so all in all i'm guessing around 400Kg
