I have a Geophagus Red Tabajos that appears to have little brownish wart looking things forming near his body where his side fin and body meet. I noticed this last night and it doesn't look good. Any ideas what this might be and how to treat it?

My earth eaters had something similar. I treated with malachite green, and then after that I used salt. They eventually turned into ulcers on the one and it died, but they went away on the other one leaving white spots.
