I came home today to find my peacock eel, and 2 silver tipped catfish dead. their bodies were covered in white spots. when i left for work they all looked fine and ate well. I am upset about my loss, and im also concerned about my other fish in the tank. clown knife 7 inch, ghost knife 6 inch, rope fish 10 inch, and 3 gouramis.. The clown knife is now rubbing itself against the sand. And the rope fish has some slimy buildup on him. The ghost knife and the gouramis look just fine.

I am using a dose of Malachite Green. It says it treats Ich and other parasites. I also raised the temperature to 81 degrees

Any advice??? please help

malachite is pretty harsh on scaleless fish. You should switch to aquari-sol. You can dose every day. It is a copper salt med, so fish that are extremely sensitive to copper shouldn't have it. Aquari-sol is good for sensitive fish and will eliminate any parasites. Parasites can build up a tolerance of other meds but copper is something that they cannot tolerate at all.

You dose aquari-sol at 85 degrees for around 5 days. You can also use it as a weekly preventative and also in a QT for new fish or feeder fish. You can also buy it in a gallon jug if you want to use it continuously.

Don't forget to increase surface agitation while raising the temp. Either add an extra airstone, powerfilter, or powerhead, or lower the water level an inch or so.

Read the sticky in fish health about the heat and salt treatment of ich
