I'm am not sure exactly how to medicate my tank, I have a 10" vieja, 3" vieja hybrid, 5 clown loaches between 2-8"... My tank has always seemed to have some sort of parasite, but I never medicated because nothing ever got out of hand... Basically I would randomly see the vieja or clown loaches flashing off rocks but it rarely happened and never continued for more than a day... So now my new vieja hybrid is in trouble, he's got stringy white poop and not eating, also he will open and close his mouth rapidly like he's trying to clear something out... I'd like advice on how to medicate, I have jungle parasite clear and API general cure and Epsom salt, I have removed the carbon from my filters... Should I medicate the whole tank? Should I put the sick hybrid in a hospital tank and medicate it and add Epsom salt? Should I medicate and add Epsom salt to the main tank? Are the clown loaches at risk to any of the medicine? Thanks for any help

Wow... I've been going through all this w/ 3 Balas that eventually died and now a 7" Catfish for the past 2 wks. When you say Vieja... you mean Vieja Cichlid? I have one, and she's a VERY HARDY fish... she didn't get any of issues my Balas and Cat had...

I know my Balas in the past have had an issue where their mouth seems stuck open... it seemed to always happen right before they died. Like they were gasping for air. Maybe wanna do a medical tank if the others aren't showing signs and if you're tank is too large to medicate the whole thing. Sorry, I don't have further advise. My fish have never had the issues w/ the 'stringy white poop' ordeal. Does the Hybrid have any other visual symptoms on him? What are the tank conditions?

it would be better to get a good diagnosis before you start adding meds randomly. the flashing could very well be gill flukes
