So what is the go to treatment for internal parasites nowadays? My Green Terror has been showing his stress bars for a few days along with not eating, and white/clear poop. He is noticeably less active, but not laying around the tank or anything. I also notice he is picking at the sandbed a lot just sifting through the sand. I wasn't sure if that may be due to irritation or just regular behavior. I have some prazipro on the way as I was planning on moving him to a hospital tank to treat. I would try metro but it seems that will only work if he'll eat, which I don't think will happen.

The preferred for cichlids with the clear poopis metronidazole in the tank with medicated food (metroplex) soaked in Epsom salts. Can add the prazipro as well. This short of levimisole will be a good start. Hard to say what it is w/o microscopic examination of the stool.

So would the API general cure be the way to go as this has matronidazole and prazi combined? Or is there a better way to go?

New Life Spectrum Hexshield is better if he will eat it. Must be exclusively fed for 3 days. Prazipro can be follow afterwards.

Not seen much success this route. Would do as rocksor has mentioned.

OK, so I ordered the hex shield. Whether the terror eats it or not, I'm sure the rest of my fish will benefit from it. So how long would you go without medicating the hospital tank? I'm almost certain he will not eat the hex shield as he barely touches regular NLS. But I want to make sure I give a fair shot before going for medicating the water. Any reason to wait on the Prazipro while trying hex shield?

No reason to wait.

If he doesn't try the Hex Shield after a week. You can try the in tank treatment of the API General Cure. After using General Cure in the water, hopefully he will be hungry enough to eat the Hex Shield.

OK, so I started the Prazi in a hospital tank today. And I have a question. How quickly would this have an effect on symptoms? I had added a few pellets of NLS and one pellet of cichlid gold in the morning and they were ignored completely.

I performed a water change and dosed with Prazipro. After a few minutes I added another pellet of cichlid gold and he immediately showed some interest. He mouthed the pellet a few times before finally eating. This is the first time I've seen him eat a pellet in 3 days.

Is this coincidence? I'm waiting on delivery of Hex shield (should be here tomorrow). Would you add more food to see if he takes it...or keep him hungry for the hex shield? Definitely seems to be searching for food and is no longer just hiding out in the hospital tank. But it all seems way too quick for it to be from the medication.
