I am dealing with a parasite breakout in my tank at the moment, but i want to put some sand back into it. Barebottom is getting boring. So should i wait until the problem is fixed? Will the sand make the parasites harder to kill by giving them somewhere to hide?

*The parasites are long white worms that look like planaria w/ a hook on the end and they attach to my fish.

Anchorworms (Lernaea elegans)? Keep it bare for now. Putting sand in it makes it harder for you to remove every parasite. What have you been using to kill them? Dimilin?

I don't think they are anchor worms. They are too small to be anchor worms. They really look exactly like planaria, only a bit longer and with a hook-like thing on the end.

I used Jungle Parasite Clear tablets for two treatments and it didn't quite work. It helped, but it didn't kill them all. So now i'm going to try 3 treatments. Its been a week or two since the last treatment.

Pics? They sound like anchorworms to me. Fish leech? Use pure dimilin or trichlorfon for external parasites.

Google fish leech and confirm if it is the one.

No its not fish leech. Its much smaller than that. You have to concentrate a bit to see them.

Not this? Either way, I still recommend that you switch your meds.
