Hi my wife has a newly imported Flower horn that is not doing very well. It seems to have a sunken stomach and this white ball like faeces. He has gone off his food which is not good. Of cause it is her favourite one so I would really like to save it.
I have been treating it as a Parasite infection with no real luck. Treatment has been with Metro 400mg per 25L (6g) & Epsom salt 1-teaspoon per 10L(2.65g).The only thing he will now eat is small live fish so I have been injecting them with metro and then feeding them to him.
Can anybody think of a better treatment? Maybe I should start treating with prazi ?
Check the photo's of his faeces he has been doing these even with not eating for day’s weird.
thx for any help

ooh yummy. get some jungle parasite clear http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....8214&_trksid=p3907.m32&_trkparms=tab=Watching
they deliver international.
or get some kusuri off of ebay.co.uk

yummy :yuck:

Thx I have some 100% prazi which I think is the same as jungle parasite clear I will give that a go.
If he pulls through I hope he does not get hooked on live fish as I never feed live fish to any of my fish.He had stop feeding and would not even eat his favourite food prawns.A friend suggested try live and see if that would work it did.

Just be sure to check the label. I've used some parasite meds that recommend removing carbon from the filter for a period of time during treatments... but compared to many on here I'm just a noob

Not looking good he is off food totally. It has been 4 days now that he has not eaten anything. He is starting to sway from side to side. It’s never a good sign when a fish starts to lose body control.
He is still constantly pumping out the white ball like faeces even though he has not eaten for so long.
I will be doing another water change today only small 25% then adding some more Epsom salt. Cannot repeat the prazi dose till Monday fingers crossed.
I am hoping that his body will start using the fat in his big head for energy to replace the loss of energy from not eating.
This was him only a week ago.

if your gonna feed live, which im against, then dont go shouting it around on forums as its illegal in this country if the animal can be weaned onto dead/prepared food. most captive animals fall under this with few exceptions, i dont know exactly what the exceptions are but i know there are some.

add a food that has garlic/meds in it. go here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MEDICATED-DE-...h=item220348490869&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1262 and http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/COLOUR-BITS-G...h=item220369627796&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1262
this is a great ebay shop and they are very customer orientated.

Good new today he is showing signs of recovery. He is more active and showing aggression to the other FH next to him. I did the 25% W/C and added a powerful vitamin supplement of B1, B2, B6, B12, E, & A. All I need to do now is repeat the prazi dose on Monday to kill off any surviving parasites and get him to eat again I will try and get him to eat live feeders first then back on to his normal food. I am very confident now that he will survive. My wife is very happy as these high grade AAA Thai imports are not that easy to come by.

Just to clear up a few things’s my fish eat better than most. They get high grade prepared foods like NLS (high garlic content), Hikari with a smorgasbord of fresh foods prawns, white bait, fish, mussels and fresh vegetables. This Flowerhorn was eating all that food fine before he got sick. Lucky he was only new and still in the Q/Tank which was good.
I never feed live fish because of a few reasons. No1<> the diseases factor No2<> I think it makes the fish too aggressive No3<> I too think it’s a bit cruel.
But in saying that I could not careless about the fact that it is illegal (so is J-walking) or about mentioning it on the forums. I am going though the steps in which I am trying to save this FH. But in this case I had no choice after he had gone off all food for so long I was trying everything I could to make him eat. Looks like in this case it payed off as I think he would not have made it if he did not get the goodness from what live fish he did eat early on.

That's wonderful news! Glad to hear he's doing better. I don't feed my fish feeders either because of the same reasons you posted. But when you have a fish in distress you try whatever you can to get it to pull through. Congrats! At least you didn't ignore this and let the fish die.

Thanks and It's only getting better he is now eating :nilly:
My wife loves her Flowerhorns so she is very happy. I am now in her good books probably only for a day or two :naughty:
