I was planting today and noticed small swimming worms in the water any ideas what they could be and how to get rid of them
my fish seem to like eating them though

I would try doing a lg water change. What do you feed your fish and can you get pictures of the worms?

no i cant get a picture they are too small like short eigth of an inch hairs
i have never seen them before tonight when i disturbed the substrate right to the bottom of the tank
right now they get fed
seafood mix(frozen)
crickets
neon tetras
earthworms (i dont think they can live under water though)
and chicken liver

I would continue siphoning the gravel and doing water changes until there gone. Hopefully some one else has some good insight? Try the fish disease and health forum?

They sound like white or micro worms, often found in filters, great food for small fish.

yeah they where down in the peat soil at the bottom of my tank it seems that they mostly hang out around the root systems of plants

I used to have them to but when I tore my tank down they were all gone. Question I have about them is this as sign of bad water quality or something along those lines.
