i havent seen any poo or anything (he does flick) he is alittle red around the fins and VERY thin.. i was thinking of doing a salt bath. my tank is at about 27 degrees, my nitrates are at about 5 ppm. i got him from my sister who didnt feed him often ( i would have taken him away from her if i knew) he has been in the tank for a couple of monthes. he eats just fine and he eats alot but he isnt putting any weight back on. WHAT SHOULD I DOO! (i forgot to mention he is a jewel cichlid)

3. Is your aquarium set up freshwater or brackish water? FW

4. How long the aquarium has been set up? december 2008

5. What fish do you have? How many are in your tank? How big are they? How long have you had them? (1) 5" senegalus bichir (10) 3/4" white clouds (8) 1" corys (2) 1.5" guppies (1) 2" paradice fish (1) 2.5" butterfly fish (1) 2.5" jewel cichlid (1) 1" oto

7. What temperature is the tank water currently? 25 Celsius

8. Are there live plants in the aquarium? yes

9. What filter are you using? State brand, maintenance routine and power capacity. magnum 350, ac70, ac20 all cleaned monthly (not at same time)

10. Any other equipment used (aside from heater and filter which are two very important components of the tank)? no

11. Does your aquarium receive natural sunlight at any given part of the day? What is your lighting schedule (assuming you do not rely on sunlight for our viewing pleasure)?

13. What foods do you provide your fish? What is the feeding schedule? fed once in the evening. give meal worms a pinch of flakes and any bug i come across and feel safe feeding to my fish

14. What unusual signs have you observed in your fish? my jewel appears to have problems floating. has a sunken area in his gut area that hasnt filled in at all. (when i first got him he was one of three and was picked on quite a bit so i gave him to my sister with a 10 gallon and she apparently didnt feed it at all so two months later she was given a hamster so she didnt want a fish tank anymore so she gave me a very emaciated jewel. its been 3 months and he hasnt filled out at all) he rests on the bottom most of the time but is quite responsive.

15. Have you treated your fish ahead of diagnosis? If so, what treatments did you use? State your reasons for planning ahead of proper diagnosis. no

16. Insert photos of fish in question and full tank shot if necessary.
