Unlike google, I'll add my personal experience. I had a big one for approximately 6 years in my 125. They can get rather dominant if kept with fish at their level of aggression. I do not consider them to be that aggressive compared to a lot of the popular cichlids (amphilophus, parachromis). I kept mine in a mixed community with some acaras, dempsey, firemouth, geo steindachneri, and a few haps. have had both small spots and large spots, but no difference in behavior IME. as they grow, will develop Oscar-like personality.

if they have a oscar like personality then i start thinking of getting one!

Thanks for the advice. he is definately a fun guy to have. The main problem i have is he doesnt like many foods. i tried a variety of hikari products, frozen food, and flakes. so far he only really likes the flakes. is there anything that will get him to eat a bit more?

Mine loves frozen blood worms and earth worms along with hikari cichlid gold pellets.
