I joined this site to talk to other Paratilapia and Indonesian tiger fish lovers.
This seems to be the most relevant thread to post my questions .
At present I have got a group of 4 small spot 4",3.5",3",2" in a 3ft tank ,I am trying to get a pair then move them to a custom mad 5ft tank (under construction).
In the shop I had the choice of around 10 so I chose the biggest dominant one the second place and two of the smallest in the hope this would get at least one male female combo.
I had been recommended to get 6 but i thought if things went very wrong I would not have spare tank space for the others at present I have just a 2ft emergency tank if things get too rough.
I have spent many hours reading and researching my p.polleni .
Strangest thing that has happened so far was this morning I found one sleeping nose up in some amazon sword leaves bit like a sleeping bag.
Anyway it's behavior that I need help on ,from people who have paired these fish off in one tank.
Do both sex s do the display wiggle or just the males ?
if so I could have 3 males .
How rough is two rough before intervention they often bump each other and this is getting worse between the two largest however I have seen them do the wiggle display and look quite matey as well /I wonder if even they know who is male and female.
I have had 3 do the wiggle dance at the second smallest almost at the same time .
Does anyone have a definitive guide on how two sex these fish as in actual diagrams or pictures of the difference everyone seems to want this information I know it's obvious when they get larger but it would be nice two know now.
