I have a 55 gallon with the parents and fry together no other fish are in there with them. They spawn already and the fry are one month old. How long can they stay in the same tank with the fry before they spawn again. Please advise me thanks.

Move the parents to a bigger tank. 55gal is way too small for a cichlid that gets as large as a dovii. Especially if your keeping a pair. Need at least at 125gal + for a pair of dovii.

Yeah but for now how long can I keep in there together. However I'm working on a 155 gallon bow front. It's not set up yet and it won't be until at lease until the first part of this coming spring. Please advise me thanks

yeah i think they are too big for a 55 gal. , if they havent killed any of their fry yet then dont worry about it unless they grow up to 2-3 then you should move the parent and keep the fry in the 55 as a grow out or sell the fry

sorry didn't read the other text. Once the fry start to get their color, you should take them out.
