Stunning Damii Jose! So extremely rare, exquisite & graceful. Its very sad there isn't more awareness and availability in the States. Hopefully this species will eventually make its way from the UK.

In your experience, how are Damii different/similar to other large Damba in regards to behavior, aggression, spawning, etc?

I agree Laurie.. I wish I could coment on breeding behavior, I do have another trio albeit quite smaller compared to this one so I hope next year I will be rewarded with fry.
In terms of behavior, I find them a little shy but can dominate dambabe, which is aggressive in its own right. I think it's primarily due to its large size. The trio are constantly looking for food in the sand, their dentition is more similar to kieneri if I remember correctly thus it is not primarily a molluscivore damba but will eat invertebrates and plants. There is a bond between two of the smaller damii so I'm hopeful for a spawn. Coloration changes dramatically based on mood and I presume will change while spawning. It varies from a gorgeous pink-violet to dark grey with blue overtones, it's hard to described as it's quite a nice fish.

Thanks for sharing Jose. As always, your sage insight is most appreciated. I'm looking forward to more news on your Damii.
