I ordered 6 for my mom and growing them out and getting the good coloration is taking awhile; they're little too plain for her to take interest at a small size and lack of color. What would be other good additions with the menarambo with good coloration off the bat. Hopefully in the Madagascar areaish

All of the dambas are very slow growing, but the menarambo should start showing adult coloration when 4-5". I would recommend Paratilapia polleni. Four to six would be best but you haven't mentioned the tank size. When small (<4") they could be housed in a 90G say. These fish all get large (10-12") so plan accordingly (like a 150-180G eventually)

Hey northo how long does it take the dambas to reach that 4 to 5 inch range if they are currently around the 2.5 inch range.

I am growing out about 25 menarambo from a spawn that took place December, 2012. The largest of these are around 5", so they are around 17 months old. Should be breeding in another 4 or 5 months. So yours, at 2.5" should be at 4" or 5" in 8 months to a year.
