I remember reading somewhere that one grew alot faster that the other but i can't remember which. I think it was paroons that generally have the faster growth rate but just wanted too clarify.

paroon/ID growth question???

not sure which actually grows "faster" but in the right environment and providing it's a healthy fish, they will both grow faster than just about anything I've ever encountered. In about 9 months my paroons had gone from about 3-4" to around a foot each, and my ID's were newer, but seemed to have about the same growth rate. However, ID's do not get as big in the long run as the paroons do, they will both get VERY large though, and most of us don't have tanks to keep them for much over a year or so....
i saw a 5 foot paroon shark @ xian leng aquarium in malaysia. it was HUGEEEE...the owner sed around 8-10 years tho. who knows? :s
Plus the paroon that i rescued 1 year ago is starting to outgrow all my fish! including my 42'' RTC!!! in length and girth...i think in about 2 years he will be the king of the tank!
