  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Iridescent and pangasius is the same one. Paroon is different. Like Jason said, they are from the same genus.

i dont think i have seen paroon's in years what happened to this cat is it still legal or are thay just rare in my area

Not sure what you mean by breed. There is order, family, genus, species, sometimes subspecies.

Pangasius is a common name mistakenly used for all the fish in the family of Pangasiidae: http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/family.php?family_id=21

As you see, there are 4 genus in this small family. The biggest genus is indeed called Pangasius with most members, to which paroon (#12) belongs. IDS (#4) belongs to a different genus - Pangasianodon.

Paroons are legal but their cousin the giant version of them is not. Sorry I for get the name. Makong or something I think.... is illegal and highly endangered. So the US customes class's the fish together so u can't get paroons bc the are the same as the "makong". But what people do us clip their dorsal fins to make them look like ID sharks to get them past US customes. Pet Zone in Cali get me mine. Cost me 220$ for 2 2" babies shipped from Cali to PA. And they where legit and didnt clip fins or anything.
