Just wanted to know the value of them over in the states. i have one lined up for $250, it has one eye and a fair bit of damage, the only bit that wouldn't heal would be his eye. He is about 35cm

He would be going in a 180 for a few months and then something bigger possibly a pond after i move.

Tank mates are looking at being pbass, Leichardti arowana and Pink GG.

Thanks

Two fifty?.....but then I noticed your location....Here,paroons under four inches go for less than fifty dollars and small iridescent sharks are under ten dollars each.....not sure what the blue shark is though.

Yea i said it was 35cm in the above post or about 13''

What is the difference between paroon and iridescent Shark? Blue shark is just what the lfs called it. I will try and get some pictures.

Yea in australia we are charged through the roof for every exotic fish.

I have heard about the prices of some fish over there....The paroon and iridescent are closely related but the paroon is a much more rare fish and the iri is found in just about every pet shop here. They are both part of a family of similar looking fish and they both grow very big if given the chance but I think the paroon grows much larger and the paroon has more of a pointed dorsal fin compard to the blunt shaped fin of the iri and the paroon's tail fin is wider and more, shark like, for lack of a better word....Check out planetcatfish.com for more pictures and info. That way you can hopefully positively identify the fish and know for sure which one the store has.

Thanks a lot. I have been looking at some pics i see the differences although they are very minor. I am going to go back and have a look at it next week, either way I have not seen any paroon or iridescent sharks for sale in Australia apart from this one.
Thanks again

Yea i will see what i can do on the price, he also has one eye, the owner said this was common, when they are young they are frightened easily and run into the glass?

Running into the glass is common but a result of that is damage to the front snout/mouth area, not usually a missing eye.....Who knows what happened to the eye but do try to get the price down if you can.
