Hi,

I would want to know how i can expect a paroon shark to grow in a tank. I know up to 10 feet in the wild but i am guessing in a tank it's smaller. What is the best size tank to start with a juvenille ? I would have a 36" long but 2 feet deep tank 65 gallon as a start-up tank.

What size tank would i need for a grown out 500-900 gallon like an id shark ?

I have id sharks but i find them not so much shark looking. They are shark looking but the paroon is even more shark looking wih the high dorsal fin. I would have to order the fry from the us.

Paroon Sharks grow to 5'. The Mekong Catfish can grow to 10'. Paroon Sharks will grow quickly. A 65g with those dimensions will only last it/them a few months depending how many you get at what size.

is it id shark that you have rottbo ? I would probably just get one paroon shark and keep my black shark. I guess i would have to return the ids.

One of my id is about 10"

A paroon shark that grows to 5ft in the wild will also attain the same size, in captivity, if cared for and managed properly. Unfortunately, 99.99% of paroons under captive care die from poor conditions (ie: methomogloben - nitrite poisoning) well before approaching their normal adult size.

meckon catfish are not in the trade right ? I guess nobody could properly take care of them. I don't see how i could care for a 10 feet fish. However it must be really shark looking because of the high fin,the size that is around real shark size and also the body color. Paroon shark and meckon catfish seem to be the closer i could get of like having a shark.

Maybe one day i gonna have a slatwater tank with a true marine shark that i am going to feed with a feeding pole.:headbang2

Mekong Cats are on the endagered species list. They've been over fished and they mature slow. It's going to be real sad when these fish go. I think they are one of the greatest catfish around.

If you are looking for something tat looks like a shark and you have a large tank why not get, a shark? Fish only salt systems are easy and you can get many benthic and semi-benthic sharks in even a 300 gallon tank. Plus many of the benthic sharks stay smaller than the 5' and 10' catfish species. Sometimes it's just easier to get the real thing. PM me if you need more info on sharks I can also tell you where to get them easily if you want.
