Any body have any information on the best foods to feed parrot cichlids? I have been feeding them blood worms and tropical fish flakes. they seem to be doing fine, i just wish they would grow a little faster. I have had them for almost 2 years and they are at about 5".

Thanks everyone!!

my psittacus loves just about anything, hakari pellets, omega one shrimp pellets, blood worms, frozen krill, freeze dried krill, i've even him snacking on sinking wafers :D

Do you mean blood parrots or true parrots (psittacus)? If you have psittacus they should be much larger then 5 inches in 2 years. Blood parrots don't grow nearly that fast. 5-7 inches in 2 years is probably about right.

Im talking about blood parrots. The pudgy orange guys. I tried to get them to eat lettuce today and they didnt seem to interested.

I have been feeding mine Hai Feng pellets, Hikari Cichlid Gold color enhanced and Azoo fish pellets with 9 in 1 color enhancer along with shrimp pellets. They seem to enjoy them. I also heard you can feed them cut uo pieces of earthworms, I plan to try this when they are more available. Mine are about 6" long, I have 5 in my 150 gallon tank along with 5 severums, a convict , and a 10" chocolate plecostomus. Recently I read that parrots enjoy vegetables such as peas but I have not tried them on this diet.

i wonder if i just threw in a couple of frozen peas, you think they would go for them as they thaw out?
